Snip Halo has no image backend, no automatic upload, and no account requirement. Its permissions are limited to the actions you deliberately take.
macOS calls it “Screen Recording” permission because any app that reads screen pixels uses the same system control. Snip Halo does not record video or capture in the background. It reads pixels only when you start a region or full-screen capture.
Snip Halo keeps the 20 most recent captures locally on your Mac. You do not need a Snip Halo account, and the history is not synchronized through a Snip Halo server.
If you connect Google Drive, Snip Halo requests the limited drive.file scope. That grants access only to files Snip Halo creates or that you explicitly open with the app—not your entire Drive.
Every Drive upload starts private. Snip Halo creates an “anyone with the link” permission only after you confirm that you want the file to be publicly viewable by link.
Snip Halo is a macOS screenshot application provided by Megacubos, LLC (“Megacubos,” “Snip Halo,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This policy applies to sniphalo.com, the Snip Halo macOS application, optional Google Drive functionality, license purchase and activation, software update delivery, and support communications.
Core capture and editing features operate locally on your Mac. Snip Halo does not automatically transmit screenshots to Megacubos. A screenshot leaves your Mac only when you explicitly save, copy, drag, or upload it.
If you connect Google Drive, Snip Halo may process the connected email address, OAuth credentials managed by the official Google Sign-In SDK, identifiers and metadata for files and folders available under the requested permission, Google Drive links, and file-sharing status.
Snip Halo requests only https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file. This permission allows Snip Halo to create and manage files it creates or files specifically made available to it. It does not grant unrestricted access to all files in your Google Drive.
Google information is used only to show the connected account, create or reuse the visible Snip Halo folder, upload a screenshot after you request it, keep uploads private by default, create an anyone-with-the-link permission only after your separate confirmation, return the Google-provided link, and restore the local sign-in session.
Google sign-in credentials are handled locally by the official Google Sign-In SDK using secure macOS storage. Snip Halo does not send Google access or refresh tokens to a Megacubos application server. Uploaded screenshots are stored in your own Google Drive; Snip Halo does not store a second server-side copy.
You can disconnect Google Drive in Snip Halo Settings or revoke access through your Google Account. Disconnecting or revoking access does not automatically delete files already uploaded or revoke public links. You can change permissions or delete those files directly in Google Drive.
Snip Halo's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. We do not use Google user data for advertising, credit decisions, data-broker activities, or training general-purpose artificial intelligence models, and we do not sell Google user data.
Lemon Squeezy processes purchases as merchant of record. It may process billing, payment, tax, order, and fraud-prevention information under its own privacy policy. Megacubos does not receive or store your full payment-card number through the app.
License activation, validation, and deactivation may process the license key, generated instance identifier, user-visible Mac name, customer email, product identifier, activation usage and limit, license status, and last successful validation date. Local license data is stored in the macOS Keychain. Lemon Squeezy may retain order and license records as required to provide its services and comply with law.
The website is hosted on Vercel. Vercel and related internet infrastructure may process standard request logs such as IP address, date and time, requested page, browser or device information, approximate region, security signals, and diagnostics. The website currently uses no advertising, product analytics, or session-replay tools. A first-party cookie named sniphalo_locale stores only your language preference for up to one year and is not used for advertising or analytics.
Signed software updates are delivered through Cloudflare infrastructure. Standard network information may be processed when checking for or downloading an update, but the update service does not receive your screenshots.
If you email support, we process the contact, order, license, device, diagnostic, screenshot, and message information you choose to provide so we can respond, investigate problems, prevent abuse, and improve the product.
We use information only as needed to provide requested features, purchases, licensing, updates, support, security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, and business records. Limited information may be disclosed to Google, Lemon Squeezy, Vercel, Cloudflare, professional advisers, or authorities only for the relevant functions described here or when required by law.
We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Information is retained only as reasonably necessary for the relevant purpose and applicable legal requirements. Local screenshots and preferences remain under your control on your Mac; Drive files remain under your control in Google Drive; provider records follow the relevant provider's retention requirements.
We use safeguards appropriate to the product, including macOS Keychain storage, official Google authentication libraries, HTTPS, narrow OAuth permissions, confirmation before public link sharing, Apple code signing and notarization, and cryptographically signed updates. No security measure is perfect.
Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, withdrawal of consent, or information about processing. Email support@megacubos.com with the subject “Privacy Request.” We may request reasonable verification before acting.
Snip Halo is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the application.
We may update this policy when features, providers, legal requirements, or data practices change. We will update the date above and provide additional notice when required. If a change materially expands how Google user data is used, we will update our disclosures and request additional consent where required.
